I actually really, really like this rain. It's normally a lighter rain that doesn't last too long or sometimes it does last quite long. Anyway, today Hannah and I met up for breakfast at 9 am. My breakfast concluded of toast with strawberry jam and mango yogurt. The yogurt ended up being a little much for me but the initial taste was pretty good.
At 10:30, Mikhel met us at our hostel to take us to the National Museum of Ethiopia. Man, that place was pretty cool! There were also quite a variety of people there too. Below are pictures from the trip to and from the museum as well as actual pictures from the museum! We drove by the Israel, Belgium, and British Embassies. Those were super cool to see but unfortunately you cannot take pictures of government buildings here in Ethiopia.
Pictures of the city (to and from the Museum)
All of these picture don't even go into detail how these people actually live. Most houses are made from tin sheets of metal. The streets and sidewalks are all very dirty. The sidewalks are also very poor in condition. The air quality within the city is very poor. Maybe not as bad as some countries, but big trucks and busses are everywhere exuding black exhaust. In some areas, it even looks smoky because of the fumes. Besides that, it's interesting to see the variety of people. There are men and women dressed traditionally as well some 'fashion-forward' people. These people are definitely not afraid to just walk in the street to get to the other side. That would be pretty scary to do/see in the U.S. But, this place does not even compare to the U.S. The country has its own qualities and set style of life. I am not sure how much some of these people would change because for most, it's all they know.
Pictures in the Museum
After a fun time visiting the museum, Mikhel dropped the both of us just in time for lunch. On Sunday's the Zebu Club does a 'Family Buffet'. It has all kinds of good foods. A picture what I chose is below. It was all really good!
Currently, I am writing from my room with the window cracked open to let fresh air in. It started raining around noon and has been ever since. For me, rain is peaceful, another reason to keep the window open. We have nothing planned the rest of the evening but it will most likely include some Netflix, relaxing, and just enjoying the day.
Interesting pictures! The city kind of reminds me of Mexico.
